Lianna Purjes's profile on the Gottman Referral Network

You are NOT a bad parent.

I didn’t start this work because everything was easy.

I started because too many parents were given the wrong tools — or no tools at all.

I’ve worked with hundreds of neurodivergent kids in offices, schools, and inpatient settings. And across every setting, the same thing shows up…

Parents are expected to manage incredibly complex nervous systems without being taught how.

Kids get labeled. Meds get prescribed. Everyone crosses their fingers and hopes for the best.

But here’s the truth: YOU are your child’s most important support — and when you don’t have the right tools for your child’s brain, nothing else sticks.

That’s why I don’t blame parents.

I equip them.

Tell Me If This Sounds Like Your House

  • Your stomach drops every time the school calls.

  • You dread public outings because you’re already planning your exit.

  • You’re walking on eggshells all day.

  • You’ve tried everything and nothing seems to work.

If you whispered “yes,” you’re in the right place.

Why In-Home Intensives?

Meltdowns don’t happen once a week in an office.
They happen at home — in real moments.

In-home intensives allow us to:

  • Work in your real environment

  • Respond in real time

  • Build tools that fit your family

  • Work collaboratively so you know exactly what to do when your child is upset

This is hands-on, practical support — not theory.

How It Works:

  • Intake & Planning

We meet in my office or online to gather history, identify goals, and design a treatment plan tailored to your family.

  • In-Home Intensive

Hands-on support in your home (with breaks included), practicing skills in real moments, including a parent workbook designed for your family.

  • Follow-Up & Integration

One month of unlimited text/email support to adjust the plan as needed and to help you implement strategies in the toughest moments.

  • This Is For You If...

👉 Weekly therapy hasn’t been enough to create real change (or you don’t think it will be)

👉 Most challenges happen at home, not in a therapist’s office

👉 You want hands-on support in being your child’s most important teacher

👉 You’re ready to invest in new strategies that reduce meltdowns, burnout, and ongoing therapy cycles.

👉 You want an approach that saves time, energy, and emotional wear-and-tear long term.

  • This Is Not For You If...

👉 You’re looking for a quick fix, guaranteed compliance, for “perfect behavior” from your child.

👉 You want someone to “fix” your child without parent involvement.

    👉 You prefer punishment-based or behavior-only approaches.

👉 You’re not open to exploring/changing how you respond during hard moments.

👉 You’re looking for the lowest-cost option rather than high-impact, individualized support.

FAQs: Common Questions About Parenting Intensives for Neurodiverse Families

  • An in-home parenting intensive is a short-term, high-support service that provides hands-on coaching and therapeutic support in your home, where challenges actually happen. Instead of talking about what might work, we practice tools in real time so they fit your child, your family, and your daily life.

  • Weekly therapy can be helpful, but it often doesn’t touch the hardest moments that happen between sessions. That’s because weekly sessions in an office don’t involve the regular stressors you and your child face every day.

In-home intensives are immersive and practical. You receive concentrated support over a shorter period of time, which often leads to faster insight, clearer strategies, and more confidence using tools when things get hard.

  • This service blends therapeutic insight with parent coaching. The focus is on supporting your child’s nervous system, strengthening the parent-child relationship, and equipping you with tools you can continue using long after the intensive ends. Because even though weekly play therapy can help reach the same goals, at the end of the day, your child goes home to you, and YOU are your child’s most important support in life.

  • Because I specialize in neurodivergence, this service is especially helpful for families with ADHD, autistic, or otherwise neurodivergent children, but any kids who struggle with emotional regulation, meltdowns, transitions, or anxiety would greatly benefit from this intensive.

  • Yes! Parent involvement is essential.
This isn’t a service where someone “fixes” your child while you step away. You’ll be supported, guided, and coached so you can confidently respond in real moments and create lasting change at home.

  • Families often seek in-home intensives for:

    • Frequent or intense meltdowns

    • Power struggles and emotional escalation

    • Difficulty with transitions or routines

    • School-related stress spilling into home life

    • Parent burnout and feeling stuck

If you’re unsure whether this fits your situation, please feel free to book a free consultation on this page and we can talk about it.

  • No. Insurance does not cover intensive therapy services.

  • This is a high-touch, personalized service that includes extended time, real-time coaching, preparation, and follow-up support. Families often find that the clarity, skills, and confidence gained through an intensive save significant time, emotional energy, and money in the long run.

  • To protect the quality of care, I work with only a limited number of families each month. This allows for deep focus, flexibility, and meaningful support for each family.

  • This is very common. Many families start with one parent leading the change. Part of the intensive includes support around how to talk with a partner, reduce defensiveness, and build buy-in over time. Your partner doesn’t have to be fully on board from day one for this work to be effective. All that’s required is that they are open to learning.
