HOW CHILDLESSNESS THERAPY CAN HELP

There is a profound and difficult to verbalize grief that occurs when you learn that you won’t be a parent like you always imagined. You want to heal the deep wound of losing your dream. You want to have a sense of purpose and meaning in your life. You want to be able to handle the near constant reminders that you’re not a parent. You want to know and feel you’re valued as a human.

In therapy, you can find a safe space to grieve a loss that doesn’t often get acknowledged, and find a new path to move forward.

Therapy can help you:

  • Let go of the parent identity you always wanted

  • Learn healthy ways of coping with the deep emotions that come up every day

  • Set boundaries with loved ones and colleagues so you avoid the insensitive comments

FAQS

Common questions about childlessness therapy

  • Yup! It’s a myth that grief only happens when someone dies. As humans, we also experience grief when we have any kind of loss: loss of relationship, loss of a job, loss of what we thought we would eventually have, etc.

  • Absolutely! Grief is almost like breaking your arm. You need to give it time and some TLC to heal so you can move on. Will the bone be exactly the same as it once was? No. But, you’ll still be able to use it and live your life. It just might look a little different than it did before.
